Day 88 - finding a picture that sums you up
My boyfriend would agree that this is very much me. I fidget, I can't get comfortable, I wriggle, I fall asleep and I want cuddles every time we sit down to watch something. Makes me happy to know I'm not completely strange and there's others like me in this world

Day 87 - A feeling of accomplishment
For the last few weeks at work I've felt like I've constantly been busy with lots to do but I've not actually achieved anything. Today that changed.
Not only did I manage to complete and submit my tax return (which has taken twice as long as normal thanks to our new system), but I also managed to leave work on time. I can't remember the last ocassion that happened.

Day 86 - Vampire Diaries
OMG! I've expressed my love for VD before but this season finale had me hooked the entire way through. I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it, but O.M.G. is all I can say. This is going to be such a long summer break. I can't wait for my birthday to get the DVDs and rematch the entire series again.

Weigh In - 26th May and my Moment of Realisation
Monday, 26 May 2014
Another 1 lb gone this week! No idea how or what I did differently this week to the last few but I'm very very pleased.
This week is a new week, I'm done studying for a while now so it's back to focusing on the gym and stretching. I have two new stretching programs to follow for helping me get my splits, and improving my back flexibility, but I'm going to blog about them another day.
Today is more about a change in attitude and my moment of realisation.
Last week I faced the dilemma of having to decide what to wear to dance class. Normally I opt for just my leotard, leggings and a baggy-ish T-shirt as a cover up. It's a contemporary class so we don't have a strict uniform which suits me fine as I can wear what I'm comfortable to wear. The problem last week was the really high temperatures which would have meant I'd have been melting in my usual attire. So what to wear?
I'd spent the day revising in just a pair of shorts and a t-shirt cause it was so warm. Despite feeling comfortable to do that I didn't have the confidence to go to dancing in my shorts. So I changed into a pair of leggings and a top that I normally run in, made from a material designed to keep you cool. It was a sensible option, I did feel cool but a comment at dancing made me realise how stupid I was.
One of the younger girls (she's 14) turned up to class in a pair of shorts but with ballet tights on underneath because she didn't feel comfortable wearing shorts without them. To which one of the older girls (aged 18) replied "you're just coming to dance, you shouldn't care about what you look like, you're going to be a mess by the end anyway"...and I thought to myself, you know what, she's right.
Who'd have cared if I'd turned up at class in a pair of shorts and a T-shirt? Yes I wouldn't have been the slimmest there or the girl with the best pair of legs. But, I'd have been cool and I'd have been able to dance, and that was all that mattered. And that was why we were all there at the end of the day, to dance.
So that was my moment of realisation that my self-confidence had reached such a level that I would rather change into something I was likely to be less-cooler in out of fear of what other people would think of me in something that showed off a bit more flesh. How stupid is that?
Very, is the answer.
Now I'm not saying that since this point my self-confidence is at a level where I'd happily walk out of the house in a bikini and not care what anyone else thought, because I know that's just not going to happen. But I'm definitely not going to let fear of what other people think hold me back from getting to where I want to be in life.
So this week, when I go to the gym I'm not going to think about how I look or what other people think when they see me. I'm going to go and push myself to the absolute limits because otherwise, what's the point in going?
I am going get the body I want, it may take time and I may look amazing while I do it, but I'm doing it and that's what matters.
100 Happy Days...Day 85
Thoughtful presents from family - My Auntie was very kind to give me a huge box cleaning products she'd been buying and saving for me ready for my move in date. It was just little things like sponges, bathroom cleaner, kitchen cleaner etc but it was such a thoughtful gift for her to give. Thank you very much, and Happy Birthday Uncle Ted!

Day 84 - Trips out with Omar
Omar and I decided to have a little trip to Ikea to do get some furniture ideas for my flat. Although he wasn't very helpful in making any decisions (he only liked the colour wood that I'd already ruled out), he did make the trip more enjoyable. From trying to climb into a child's egg chair, hiding amongst things, and trying to push me into a wardrobe to go visit Narnia, it's safe to say it was a very interesting trip. So lesson of the day, boyfriends aren't always helpful when making decisions on house furniture, but Ikea is like a big play area for them and they will just make you laugh all the time you're there.

I love fresh strawberries, and my local farm shop definitely sells some of the best I've had. They're without question my favourite fruit, the inspiration for my blog name, and I will eat them with most desserts.

Day 82 - Finishing Exams
I've finished my exam! It was such a nice feeling walking out of the exam room having done an exam that was actually made up of questions I rather liked. I'm just hoping I did well enough to pass, but I won't find that out for about 6 weeks now.
To celebrate I took my Mum on a shopping trip to buy new house stuff and summer work clothes. We enjoyed a rather nice pizza lunch at pizza hut, before our little shopping spree. I treat myself to three new tops from Dorothy Perkins, I haven't yet tried them on to comment on how nice they are or how good they fit but I will do an update later.

(Apologies for the spacing, blogger didn't want to do what I wanted it to do)
We then had a little visit to Next for house stuff. I came home with a light for my hallway and 2 ultra soft cushions for my bedroom. However, it looks like my light may have to go back. Apparently buying a light is more complicated than just going into the shop finding one you like and buying it. You have to take into account all sorts of stuff like the type of fitting, whether it needs earthing etc. My advice if you're not electrical savvy like me....take someone light shopping who is. I'm going to ring the builder and check that the light will work so keeping my fingers crossed.
On our trip to Next we paid visit to the Next Home store on the Metro Centre retail park and got some lovely ideas for living room furniture and more lights. I found a ceiling light and a floor lamp that will go amazingly in my living room, but now I get the feeling I won't be able to have the ceiling light. Very disappointing.
Unfortunately that wasn't the only disappointment of the day, I ran out of my No7 Redness Relief moisturiser this morning which I absolutely loved using only to find that No7 has discontinued it. As a very pale skinned person who gets red cheeks very easily, this cream was amazing at keeping my skin one colour throughout the day and helping my makeup stay on. If anyone has any suggestions on a replacement, I'd gratefully appreciate it!
Overall a rather enjoyable day spent with my Mum, and I'm very glad my exam is over with. Now it's off to relax and prepare myself for returning back to work tomorrow.

8 Tips for Surviving Exam Day
Tuesday, 20 May 2014
I've lost count of how many exams I've done in my life, and as I get myself ready for my next one I thought I'd share with everyone my eight simple tips for surviving exam day.
1 - Pack your bag the night before
To avoid a last minute rush, and risk forgetting something important, pack your bag the night before. You may only need to take a pen with you, but the last thing you want is to get up on the morning of the exam and not be able to find a working pen.
Here's what I've packed into my bag in case you're struggling to think of what you might need:
From top left to bottom right : Purse (so I can pay to park my car), ID (so I can prove I'm me), pencil case (to keep everything together), revision cards (for last minute refreshers if I think I need them), Exam Entry Form (so that I can sit my exam), Erasers and Pencil, Highlighters, Glasses, Pens (Always take a spare, just in case), Ruler, Calculators x 2 (I once had a calculator stop working on me in the middle of an exam, since then I always take two).
A bottle of water is also a good addition to your bag.
2 - Set your alarm
Sleeping in on the morning of an exam is one of my biggest fear, so I always have at least 3 alarms set. You may only need one to get you out of bed but if you often sleep in, you may want to consider more than one.
3 - Have an early night
Going into an exam tired isn't a good starting point. Have an early night to make sure you're refreshed and ready for the big day. If you worry too, the earlier you go to bed the better, you're more likely to fall asleep at a reasonable time rather than being awake until the early hours of the morning.
4 - Arrive early
Give yourself enough time to get to the exam room. If you have to get a bus, take a train, or drive, factor in for traffic or things running late. Aim to be there at least ten minutes early so you can go to the toilet, find your seat and get settled before you start.
5 - Relax
This is easier said than done, but do try and relax. Take a few deep breaths before opening the paper to settle yourself before you start. If you start the exam panicking you might miss something important in a question or rush and make a very simple mistake.
6 - Read the question carefully
If you're rushing or panicked there's a chance you might mis-read the question and answer it the way you think you should and not the way they're asking. I've done this so many times in practice questions. It's easily done and you do risk loosing marks for it. Take two seconds longer to have a second read of the question.
7 - Don't panic
Again, easier said than done. If you see something you don't understand, don't panic just spend a minute trying to think of an answer, if you can't move on and come back to it. If you still can't figure it out just write down something, a guess has a higher chance of being right than writing nothing does.
8 - Try not to overthink what just happened
When you've finished the exam try not to overthink it. Don't walk out and start questioning yourself, you'll only make the wait between sitting the exam and getting the result torture. You did your best and that's all you could do.
Good luck to you all for your exams, hope this helps! I'm going to follow my own advice now and go for an early night.

Weigh In - 20th May
I was a bit useless yesterday and got distracted by revision and rice krispies, and forgot to weigh myself. So I'm a day later than normal but I come with good news, another good maintenance week with a little 0.4lb loss.
I'm right where I hoped to be with my exam being over tomorrow and my plan of getting back to the gym next week. I did an hour and a half (ish) dance session and was relatively good with my food until the weekend, so I'm very pleased with the little loss.
Sorry, that these posts haven't been very insightful these last few weeks, I promise from next week they'll get more helpful and exercise/fitness related.
100 Happy Days...Day 81
Day 81 - Jaffa Cakes
I know they're naughty but they're one of my favourite ever snacks (I got a giant one for my 21st birthday cake and it was one of the best cakes I've ever had). I love them so much my flat mate commented, not long after I started seeing my boyfriend, that I must really like Omar because I was willing to share my jaffa cakes with him. My flat mate and my friends weren't every allowed them.
I've motivated myself through my revision by saying I can have a mini jaffa every time I'd done a section of questions...I quickly got through those questions so I could have the cakes. I was good and stopped after only one mini-pod (eating that is).

Day 80 - Sunshine
I love the sunshine and today I even took to revising in the garden. Good idea at the time, however as usual my pale skin caught the sun and now I'm hurting. Not what I wanted, but it was nice to enjoy the sun before it disappears again.
Hope you're all enjoying the sunshine where you are!

It's nearly here, exam day is nearly over. Only 5 more days and it'll be over. I can't wait to get back to a normal life, back to the gym, back to reading fun books, back to spending time with my friends without having to think about all the revision I've got to do once I've seen them.

Liebster Award #2
Thanks to MollyFrancesca for my Liebster Award, go check out her amazing blog! Sorry it's taken me forever to do this!
If you've never seen a Leibster award before, the rules are pretty simple:
- Thank and link the person who nominated you
- Answer the 11 questions they gave you
- Nominate 11 bloggers with under 200 followers
- Set them 11 questions to answer
- Let the nominees know
1. Do you watch YouTube, if so, who's your favourite YouTuber?
I don't watch a lot of YouTube, but when I do it tends to be just for fitness advice, dance routines or cute videos of dogs. I subscribe to Fit4Dancers as they provide some really good dance tips and advice, and BeFit for their great workout videos.
2. Favourite band/singer at the moment and why?
At the moment I'd say Shane Filan is my favourite singer. He was the lead singer in Westlife, my favourite child hood band, and I love his new album. It's full of such light hearted songs that you can sing a long to, relax and just make you smile. I saw him in concert at the end of February and despite it being one of the smallest concerts I've ever been to, it was definitely one of the best.
3. Top 5 favourite celebrities and why?
- Ian Somerhalder - my favourite actor and vampire from the Vampire Diaries series. He's such a good actor, playing a character that is completely different to who he is off-set, working towards saving the planet and animals....and he's good looking too.
- Mark Webber - ex-F1 racing driver who is such a great racer, and he is genuinely a nice down to earth guy. He's a big miss in this year's series but I'm supporting him in his new venture.
- Emma Watson - I grew up with Harry Potter as a major part of my life, and always related myself to Hermione as I was very much a book-worm. I loved the films, I loved Emma as Hermione, and I loved how she didn't end up like many other childhood stars who made millions very young in her life. She's a good actress outside of Harry Potter too, her role in The Perks of Being a Wallflower was really good.
- Richard Hammond - I'm a big Top Gear fan and Hammond has always been my favourite. He has such a great job, and makes the programs very enjoyable. His book 'On the Edge' is amazingly written by him and his wife, and will have anyone in tears. Such a true representation of what actually happens in such a life-jerking moment.
- JK Rowling - A great author who touched the hearts of many through her writing. I love her stories and how much she's tried to give back to the community from her status.
I got given a really nice set a few years ago, but as they got old and worn I'd just replaced them with No7 brushes. I can't for the life of me remember which brand they were, but the No7 brushes are just as good, if not better for some things.
The No7 brushes are very soft and made very well. I bought a Boots own brand foundation brush that didn't even last a week without the head snapping off, my No7 one has lasted a lot longer. They're reasonably priced and easy to get in Boots stores.
5. What made you want to start a blog?
I felt like I was loosing motivation on my health and fitness journey and wanted somewhere I could jot down my progress, the stuff that I've overcome and have somewhere to be accountable if I'd had a bad week. A blog seemed like a good place to do that as it was something that everyone could see, rather than a diary hidden in my drawer I was likely to forget about.
I also wanted somewhere that people could get inspiration from to change their lifestyles too, and a blog seemed to have that ability.
6. Best memory?
My 6th birthday. I remember being told that I one of my presents hadn't arrived yet and we had to go into the car to get to. We drove 2 hours to Bradford and arrived at this house, me with no idea where we were or why we were there. We rang the door bell and were greeted by a chorus of dog barks. I was so excited, to be getting a little dog. I sat in the house playing with all the puppies for ages, being sniffed by the daddy to dog to make sure I could take his little girl home, and left with my little baby Gemma. Almost 17 years later she's still with us and that was definitely my best birthday present ever.
7. Where are you from?
Durham, North East England. A beautiful little historic city just 30 mins from Newcastle upon Tyne.
8. What's your favourite hair styling product?
I don't use a lot of product in my hair, but what I do use daily is Tresemme Firm Hold hair spray. I don't use a lot of it, but what I do use does last the majority of the day. It's great if I just want to have my hair loose but give it a bit of hold, or if I'm doing something a bit more fancy, and ideal for holding loose hairs in place when my hair is tied up.
9. What do you hope to be doing in 5 years?
I'm training to be an accountant, so in 5 years time I'll hopefully be fully qualified and working my way up the career ladder. Hopefully I'll still be blogging too.
10. Who is your ultimate fashion inspiration?
So I don't really have an ultimate fashion inspiration. I tend to go for more comfortable clothes that I feel happy in, rather than looking towards people for ideas. I like a more sort of preppy style of clothing, but there's not one person I look to.
11. What is your favourite beauty product?
I love Brow zings by Benefit. I was a bit skeptical at first that the product would make that much of a difference so before I bought it I got one of the Benebabes in Boots to try it on me. I couldn't believe how different it made my face look. The ability to get my eyebrows more definition and shaping really did make my face look different. I have really fair eyebrows so even the light colour powder does make my eyebrows darker than normal, but I'm now so used to wearing them I think I look really weird without my brow zings on. They seem pricey at £24.50 for a really small box, but I'm not even half way through my first box and I've had it about 6 months.

1. What is your favourite song?
2. What have you learnt from blogging?
3. If you were given 3 wishes, what would they be?
4. Best memory?
5. What were you doing 1 year ago today?
6. Where do you want to be in 1 years time?
7. Did you make a new year resolution for 2014? Have you kept it?
8. If you could have dinner with one person, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
9. Favourite clothing brand?
10. Favourite make up brand?
11. Where did your blog name come from?
Enjoy!

Day 77 - For the love of dogs
I wasn't sure that watching For the Love of Dogs tonight was a good idea, but I'm glad I did. Seeing all the dogs getting a loving home to go to really made me smile. Everyone deserves a loving homes, dogs included.
I'll admit I did get upset when Noodles got put to sleep, a very emotional moment but as said in the program it was better for her. The fact someone could leave a poor little dog like Noodles in a park is just cruel and if that person had really cared they could have saved the poodle by taking her to the vets. It's a cowardly and cruel thing to do abandoning or abusing a dog.
To anyone who loves animals and hasn't seen the programme, go check it out. You'll love seeing the dogs happy faces when they get their new home.

Day 76 - Songs that make you smile
After waiting so long to watch Frozen, it's now one of my favourite films and I can't stop singing the songs. I downloaded 'Do you wanna build a snowman?' on my iPhone this morning and listened to it on the way to work this morning, it puts a smile on my face and because it's so catchy I didn't stop singing it in my head all morning. Little things that put a smile on your face do make the day a lot better.

Weigh in - 12th May
Monday, 12 May 2014
So my plan of maintaining is going well, the little gain I made last week is gone this week so there's progress.
I'm going to be honest and say I haven't done any exercise at all last week, and my diet wasn't wonderful. I didn't eat a lot over the weekend with everything that's been going on, but whatever I did eat wasn't good for me. So I'm definitely not being a great fitness role model right now.
My focus is on passing my exam and nothing else. Having that to distract myself with is useful, no idea what I'll do when it's over.
So for now it's back to revising and maintaining. Let's just take it a day at a time for now and see where we end up next weekend.

100 Happy Days...Day 75
Day 75 - Kindness
I'm still struggling to find things to be happy about at the moment. I'm distracting myself with constant revision, just because I don't really know what else to do. But one thing that has made me smile is the kindness of my boyfriend who has been amazing all weekend. That and his rendition of "do you want to build a snowman" are one of the few things to make me smile.
I'm hoping dancing will cheer me up too, but we'll see how it goes.

Day 74 - Remembering the time we spent together
Right now it's hard to think of anything that's made me happy since I last posted, but if I don't try and find something it could be a very long time before I find something to be happy about.
My beautiful little girl sadly went to sleep for the very last time yesterday. She had a long life, spending an amazing 16 years with us, but she's been suffering with doggy dementia for few months now and it was her time to go. I know she's better off where she is but we will miss her.
In her amazing life we went through a lot of things, and made a lot of happy memories. It is remembering all those times, good and bad, that is keeping me going right now.
Sleep tight baby girl, I love you.

Day 73 - Filling Tasty Dinners
I bought my Mum a new cookbook for mothers day, it's by her favourite cooking show and the best thing about it is the portion sizes are actually good portion sizes and not the little portions you see on some of the TV shows. We've tired out a few different recipes but we've found her new speciality. A chicken and chorizo bake which is so tasty and filling.
It's pretty simple to make, seal some chicken and chorizo, add some herbs and spices then cook in the oven and serve with potatos and veg. It's now one of my new favourite meals, and so filling you don't need to eat much.

Day 72 - Chocolate
Now I know chocolate isn't good for you, but I just can't resist it. Treating myself two a few nice pieces after work definitely makes me happy.

Day 71 - Harry Potter
My childhood was spent with my head burried in these books, and even now I still get excited to watch the films. Best way to cheer yourself up after a 10 hour work day.

Weigh In - 5th May
Monday, 5 May 2014
My goal for the next few weeks at least (until after the 21st May) is to just maintain. My focus is on studying so my gym sessions will be cut down and I'll just have to be very careful with what I eat. This morning there was a 0.4lb increase on the scales, I'm not too bothered about that for now, just have to work on making sure there isn't another one next week.
I only managed dancing last week as I was either studying or out with work the other nights, this week I have no dancing so going to attempt at least one good session at the gym to make up for it.
I'm going to review my ab videos tomorrow and do some sort of routine a few nights a week just so I don't loose this strength I've managed to build through April.

Day 70 - Shopping for house stuffs
As today is a non-work day, I took that to mean it was also a non-study day. Instead I dragged my parents round the industrial estates looking at curtains and cushions. Unfortunately I didn't quite find what I wanted, but I have a good idea. So excited, this house can't come soon enough.

Day 69 - Sleeping in
The best thing about weekends is not having to set an alarm, and I've definitely taken advantage of this for the last two mornings. I feel more like a normal human being at 22:09 rather than a zombie wandering round the house after being up since stupid o'clock in the morning. Thankfully only a few more weeks and I'll be in my new home!

Day 68 - Sunshine
Things always seem better if the sun is shining, and it was lovely waking up to a sunny Saturday. I'm keeping my finger's crossed the rest of summer is like today and we don't get a wet one like the other year.

April Monthly Round-Up
So it's a few days late, but here's my April monthly round-up.
Goal Number 1 - Complete the operational level of my CIMA qualification
I'm now only 18 days away from my next exam (wow, is that all?!), meaning that for the next 18 days my life is largely going to resolve around revising. I have a practice exam day on the 12th May which I'm hoping will be a major help in my revision steps. I'm feeling relatively alright about the prospect of sitting my exam but we'll see how it goes on the day.
Goal Number 2 - Move into my own home
So my flat is now the next in line to get the roof put on, and the aim is still for a move in date at the end of June. My focus is now on buying bedroom curtains ready for move in day, and then just big stuff like Fridge/Freezer and washing machine. I'm so excited.
Goal Number 3 - Loose a stone in weight
April wasn't a great month what with Easter giving me chocolate and me not being very well, so I didn't get any closer to my target. I managed an 8 minute run, the longest I've done all year, non-stop in my cardio routine, so I just need to keep going on that and soon I'll be seeing more progress.
I started the 30 day abs, squat and plank challenge at the beginning of the month, but as I seemed to loose my ability to properly do a plan I only ended up completing the abs and squat one. The progress across the 30 days was amazing, my tummy is a lot flatter than it used to be and my core strength so much better than it was. Now the challenge is over, I don't want to loose all my progress so I'm going to try a few different abs exercises each night. Taking some of the ideas from these two Youtube videos I've found to give me some variety.
Goal Number 4 - Get my splits on both legs
I'm still so close and keep trying to push myself that extra step. I'm going to try a few more exercises on my theraband to help my get that little bit further in time for my dance show.
Goal Number 5 - Learn to cook
I managed to make some chocolate coconut cupcakes (which weren't very healthy) and then a chicken and chorizo bake, and a beef casserole all from my new cook book. The results were rather good and I'll definitely be trying them again.
Plan for May
May's goal is to focus on passing my exam, and not put weight on in the mean time. I'm going to watch what I eat, and still aim to do at least one workout a week so I don't loose the progress I've made. I'm going to keep up with some ab exercises and stretch as much as I can so I'm in a good position for the dance show at the end of June.

Day 67 - Recognition for hard work
The last few months at work have largely revolved around testing our new system we were getting introduced. There's been so many problems and issues we've had to work with IT to get fixed that myself, and three of my team mates have spent more time testing the system than doing our actual day jobs, and co-ordinated the whole release amongst the three global finance teams.
This week we had our Q1 financial close presentation with our CFO and the four of us all received a Reward and Recognition award in-front of the whole global finance team for the work we'd done to get to the system ready for go-live. Thankfully all our hard work did pay off as we had a great April month end close yesterday, with no major issues.

Day 66 - Seeing Progress
Despite not having the greatest of months, I've seen a lot of progress this week in regard to my body. Yesterday I found a pair of trousers in the bottom of my drawer I bought 2 summers ago, and thought I'd give them a try and see how they fit. Last time I did so I struggled to get them fastened, yesterday they went on with no problems and were surprisingly comfortable.
Today, I went for a pair of trousers I bought at the start of the year. They're a very skinny cut so when I got them they were quite snug...but they were supposed to be. Every time I've moved today they've fallen down a little bit further and I've spent half the day pulling them back up again. I may have lost some weight, but I'm surprised I've lost enough to see this big of a difference in my clothes.
Yesterday I finished my 30 day challenge, so today I took my review photographs and sent them to my boyfriend for his views on my progress. The quality wasnt great but his comment when he saw them was "The line on your stomach doesn't look as prominent that means you've lost weight", I'm taking that as a good thing.
I've still got a long way to go, I can definitely tell myself that my stomach is flatter, but I'm going to continue with the challenge through May to make the difference even greater and my stomach even stronger.
